Household Budget Planner
Add your household income and outgoings to see what’s left each month.
Your household budget
Add the money coming in and what you plan to spend. We’ll put everything on the same monthly basis.
1. Money coming in
Use take-home pay after tax and deductions. Add other household members’ income and any regular benefits or pension payments.
2. Money going out
Include household bills, everyday spending, debt repayments and money you plan to save. Add each payment once, using the amount you actually pay.

How to fill in your budget
Use recent bank statements and bills to find regular payments. For spending that changes, such as food or travel, enter a typical amount. Include annual bills with Yearly selected, rather than entering them again as monthly costs. For debts, enter the repayment amount, not the outstanding balance.
Planned savings are counted as money going out, because you’re setting that money aside. If you include one combined household bill, don’t also enter its individual parts. Use Other for anything that isn’t listed.
How we calculate the totals
Payments are converted to annual amounts: weekly × 52, every two weeks × 26, every four weeks × 13, monthly × 12, or yearly × 1. We divide the annual amount by 12 to get a monthly average.
Money left over is income minus all outgoings, including planned savings. A shortfall means your entered outgoings exceed your income. We assume payments stay the same throughout the year; irregular income, changing prices, tax changes and one-off costs aren’t predicted. Figures are rounded for display.
