Energy FAQs

Just pop in your postcode, answer a few simple questions, and we’ll show you a list of deals. If you see one you like, you can switch online. You can also call us on 0300 303 1059 to compare energy prices, but please note that some deals online may not be available over the phone, and vice versa.

Most people can. If you’ve never switched or your fixed deal has ended, chances are you’re overpaying. A quick comparison could help you save a decent chunk of cash.

It usually takes around 2 to 3 weeks to switch energy supplier. Your new energy supplier will handle the switch for you, and there’s no disruption to your supply.

Nope - your new energy supplier does that for you. All you need to do is pick an energy deal and give a final meter reading when asked.

Switching itself is free. But if you’re still in a contract, your current supplier might charge an early exit fee. Make sure you are aware of any exit fees before switching.

The energy price cap is a limit set by Ofgem on the maximum amount energy suppliers can charge on standard variable tariffs. It changes regularly and can impact your bill, especially if you’ve never switched. It is not a cap on your bill, and people often don't realise this.

Think of it like a cap on fuel prices - if the price per litre didn't go up, you could still go to a petrol station and spend a ton of money.

We do not advise you do that.

Yes - if you’re responsible for paying the bills, you have the right to choose your supplier. Just check your tenancy agreement for any clauses.

No. Your gas and electricity stay exactly the same - only the company that bills you changes.

Fixed tariffs keep your unit rates locked in for a set time, while variable tariffs can go up or down. Fixed gives you certainty, variable can follow the market.

Yes - you can filter by green energy options when you compare. Many suppliers offer 100% renewable electricity and carbon-offset gas.
